Just had a Bob Dylan review sent to me by a friend who went to see him the other week, it seems like a lot of people who went to see him were of a same mind, I heard a phone in on the radio myself the other day people were saying it was not what they expected from such a legend and maybe it's time that he gave up, maybe thats what he wants people to think. Here's the review from Christine "hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm very mixed about sir bobness - lacked passion, in my opinion he was going through the motions......i could forgive his wierd undulating voice that at times sounded like Vic Reeves when he does his "pub singer impressions" I find it hard to forgive the fact that he had his back turned to 50% of the audience the whole night and even worse that he never even attempted to interact - he forced a weak introduction of the band at the end - quite dissapointed really. I love live music of any kind ('cept jazz) and I also think he....

I find it hard to forgive the fact that he had his back turned to 50% of the audience the whole night and even worse that he never even attempted to interact - he forced a weak introduction of the band at the end - quite dissapointed really.
I love live music of any kind ('cept jazz) and I also think he is a poet and a legend so willing to give him a generous 5/10 on that basis.

My friend jo had told me about his strange voice, as there were downloads on a web page of his american tour that she had listened to, but i was still dissapointed with his strange approach to old favorites.

We too were sat where we also only saw his back, however I could cope with both of those things as I love 'live' music and so forgive things like venue issues etc.
What I couldnt forgive is the fact that he didnt speak at all - if ya voice has gone then there are other ways of making up in performance terms ....even the odd acknowledgement that there was an audience would have appeased me.

He seemd to be hiding behing the keyboard as some sort of comfort blanket (im also aware he can be a moody performer)
but I felt little in the way of passion or interest from either the band or him ( except the drummer) either negative or positive passion
I LOVE LIVE MUSIC SO dont think im being hyper critical as I'm rarely like that where music is concerned but I felt like he was going through the motions - sad

My friend Jo is obsessed with him, we reviewed the gig on the train home and she gave 6.75 out of ten on the basis that he is a legend and a fantastic poet.
6.75 out of ten from someone who is obsessive, fancinated and a very clear admirer of this man (And she had been prepared for his strange Vic Reeves pub singer impressions of a voice ) sums it up for me.
I gave a genorous  5 simply because i love live music and one or two numbers in the set got me tapping.
 Sorry

I read manchester evening news website last night and the entertainment section has a review page and 90% of the reviews were scathing -sad

If you saw Bob Dylan play on November 16th 2005  at MEN Arena
let me know what you thought of the gig.
