Shane McGowan and The Pogues - Dropkick Murphy's - M.E.N. December 17 2005
Live Music Reviews By Fusive on Friday, January 20, 2006
- Shane Mc Gowan and The Pogues - Drop Kick Murphys - How good was it to see Shane MacGowan and the Pogues playing in Manchester at the M.E.N on the 17th of December? For me it was excellent, a great gig, amazing to see them live, so good to see Shane and the band. The only complaint I have would be the sound, when the support band (Dropkick Murphys) were playing, the energy they gave was just amazing, but the sound was poor, for a venue of the size of the M.E.N. it certainly needed more 00mph, okay they turned the volume up for the Pogues but it was a struggle to make out the lyrics on some of the songs, it just didn't have the clarity to do them justice, Shane was on great form and gave a great performance.

The Saw Doctors - Huddersfield Town Hall - December 2005
Live Music Reviews By Fusive on Friday, December 09, 2005
I have just received a review from a friend who went to see the Sawdoctors at Huddersfield last Thursday night,I would love to see them myself, they sound absolutely awesome. I went to see the Saw Doctors in my home town Huddersfield – TOP GIG!! Put the smile back on my recently stressed out glum face! Great music, great singing great dancing, and great venue- the band were on top form and the crowd was storming! The Huddersfield town hall was perfect. Even Leo Moran was publicly enthusing about the venue! the audience was very mixed ,very family orientated, with lots of young fans Excellent gig loved every minute - didn't want it to end! Atmosphere was wicked, songs were brill, they were just amazin! At times it was hard to work out who was having more fun the band or the audience. Supporting them was Noelie McDonnell.

Dick Gaughan Gig - Jim's Vegetarian Cafe, Colne
Live Music Reviews By Fusive on Friday, December 09, 2005
It was a great gig last Tuesday at Jim's Cafe in Colne, after the quiet music night last Thursday, it seems like people had been saving themselves for the Dick Gaughan gig at Jims Cafe on Tuesday, people were queing outside in the freezing cold for around 30 minutes to get a good seat for the performance. It was a fantastic gig with Dick Gaughan playing guitar and singing with the passion that he is well known for, his stage presence is amazing, his guitar playing is unbelievable, a great troubadour, he plays songs full of conviction that make you look at how you live your life, and certainly come away thinking, he is certainly a mastercraftsman. Not suprising that he's been described as arguably Scotland's greatest living troubadour. Just too good, many thanks.

Rory Ellis and Rory Mcleod playing at the Trades Club, Hebden Bridge Nov 25th
Live Music Reviews By Fusive on Friday, November 25, 2005
A great live music night at the Trades Club Hebden Bridge last night, went over to see Rory Mcleod and Rory Ellis, An excellent nights entertainment, with two brilliant singer songwriters, the night started with Rory Ellis an Australian singer/songwriter who combines a rich distinctive voice with emotive lyrics to produce an exhilarating and original sound. Next we had the pleasure of Rory Mcleod's skillful entertaining, he began by playing the harmonica as he came on stage, unbelievably talented, words would not do justice to his musical ability, needs to be heard to be believed. His skillfull rythmical finger picking on the accoustic guitar was amazing, with great original songwriting and insight.

Bob Dylan - Manchester - November 2005
Live Music Reviews By Fusive on Thursday, November 24, 2005
Just had a Bob Dylan review sent to me by a friend who went to see him the other week, it seems like a lot of people who went to see him were of a same mind, I heard a phone in on the radio myself the other day people were saying it was not what they expected from such a legend and maybe it's time that he gave up, maybe thats what he wants people to think. Here's the review from Christine "hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm very mixed about sir bobness - lacked passion, in my opinion he was going through the motions......i could forgive his wierd undulating voice that at times sounded like Vic Reeves when he does his "pub singer impressions" I find it hard to forgive the fact that he had his back turned to 50% of the audience the whole night and even worse that he never even attempted to interact - he forced a weak introduction of the band at the end - quite dissapointed really. I love live music of any kind ('cept jazz) and I also think he....

Christy Moore played the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic a couple of weeks ago, was amazing to see him play live after listening to his songs for the last 15 years or so. He played lots of my old favourites, and also some songs from his new album Burning Times.

Language. Sex. Violence. Other?
Live Music Reviews By Fusive on Thursday, October 20, 2005
After recently going to see Stereophonics at Manchester MEN Arena on their LSVO tour, I have just three words to say about Kelly Jones - Rock and Roll! He stood in the same stance for the whole set, complete with suitably tight fitting jeans, leather bomber jacket and rather large shades, and just looked so cool. He captivated the crowd effortlessly (even those not swooning over him as I was, ie. the men).
